چکیده

Abstract Scoria cone is one of the basic forms volcanoes, and clarifying its detailed internal structure magma movement during formation important for understanding nature eruptions also volcanic disaster mitigation. We conducted a multi-directional muographic survey Omuroyama scoria cone, Japan, in order to determine three-dimensional density cone. used nuclear emulsion detector optimized muography that was installed at 11 sites around volcano. Muon tracks recorded on films were read with high-speed automated readout system. obtained by applying linear inversion images, evaluated uncertainties. High-density zones detected Based these observations topographic geological constraints, we infer high-density are central, highly welded vent three-directional radial dikes extending from central vent, respectively. an E-W-trending dike fed small lava flow, SSE-NNW-trending caused flank eruption produced crater Our results visualize volcanoes novel resolution, thereby demonstrate process can be discussed detail. Since it has been difficult directly detect such clear visualization structures eruptive processes past, resulted providing hope activity.

Methods to evaluate the performance of kilovoltage cone-beam computed tomography in the three-dimensional reconstruction space

Background: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanners for image-guided radiotherapy are in clinical use today, but there has been no consensus on uniform acceptance to verify the CBCT image quality yet. The present work proposed new methods to fully evaluate the performance of CBCT in its three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction space. Materials and Methods: Compared to the traditional methods...

Computer-simulation models of scoria cone degradation

Ž . Long-term erosional modifications of the relatively simple morphology of scoria ‘cinder’ cones are ideally suited for study by field and computer-simulation methods. A series of temporally-distinct cones in the San Francisco and Springerville volcanic fields of Arizona provides the foundation for documenting the degradational evolution of scoria cones in a semi-arid climate. Progressive cha...

Far-field analysis of axially symmetric three-dimensional directional cloaks.

Axisymmetric radiating and scattering structures whose rotational invariance is broken by non-axisymmetric excitations present an important class of problems in electromagnetics. For such problems, a cylindrical wave decomposition formalism can be used to efficiently obtain numerical solutions to the full-wave frequency-domain problem. Often, the far-field, or Fraunhofer region is of particular...
